Helambu trek is a beautiful short trek nearby Kathmandu. This geography is dominated by the settlement of ethnic Hyolmo people and their culture. The trek goes through the evergreen lush forest. Beautiful view of high mountains including Annapurna mountain range, Mt. Langtang range and   other many snowcapped mountains can be observed on the way. The Hyolmo people's culture and tradition have similarities with Sherpa people of Khumbu region.  

After one hour drive to Sundarijal, the trek starts   inside the Shivapuri National park and continues through Chisapani, Kutumsang, Thadopati, Melamchi village, Sermathang and old monastery, and this trek ends at Melamchi Pul Bazar. On the way, some beautiful villages, thick dense mountain forests, beautiful terrace fields, and mountain scenery can be enjoyed. The high point on this trek is 3,500 m.

Helambu Trek Detail Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu(1,300m) and Transfer to the Hotel

On arrival at the Tribhuwan International airport, we pick you up from the Airport and transfer you to the hotel. The hotel is around 30 minutes drive from the airport into the city. At the hotel, you are served with a welcome drink. You can pass your time at the hotel or better you can visit the market around which has some great offerings for souvenir shopping. Also, can visit the Kathmandu Durbar Square which is one of the UNESCO world heritage sites which has lots of offerings about the history of Kathmandu. Including many religious places including the Kumari(the living goddess) temple. Later in the evening, you are served with authentic Nepali dishes mostly the Thakali Khana.

Day 02: Drive to Sundarijal & trek to Chisapani (2300m) Drive 1 hour and Trek: 4 hrs

We take breakfast in the Hotel and take our transportation till Sundarijal. The drive is around an hour long. Sundarijal is one of the gateways to the Shivapuri National Park. Walking for 15-20 minutes we enter inside the National park which has a habitat for many wild and endangered animals which we have less chance of encountering. From Sundarijal, we walk to the Chisapani via Mulkharka. Chisapani is also a famous destination for Hiking from Kathmandu. People mostly visit here on the weekends, therefore, we can meet many tourists here. Accommodation in Chisapani

Day 03: Trek from Chisopani to Kutumsang (2446m)6/ 7 hrs

From Chisapani we have a mesmerizing view of the Langtang Himal ranges which we can witness from the hotel only. We take our breakfast and head further towards Kutumsang. We trek for 7 hours on this day via Golphu Bhanjyang. The pathways are rocky and we climb up to 2620 meters and again descend to 2446m on this day.

Day 04: Trek from Kutumsang to Thadepati (3650m) 6 hrs

After quick warmup at Kutumsang we start our walk and reach Megan Goth from where the view of Langtang and Gosaikunda Mountain are breathtaking. The walk is along the ridge which has many amazing views and has surprises at each and every turn. Trekking for 6 hours we reach Thadepati at 3650m and rest for the day.

Day 05: Trek to Tarkeghyang (2560m) 6 hrs

From Thadepati we trek further and descend till we reach the Melamchi Gaun. Further descending we cross the Melamchi Khola at 1890 meters and again trek up towards the Tarkeghyang at 2560m. The total travel duration is 6 hours along the trail.

Day 06: Trek to Sermthang (2,610m) 4/5 hrs

The trek from Tarkeghayang to Sermthang is very attractive due to its mountain view and apple farms along the way. The trek has a view of the Melamchi Pul Bazaar which takes us around 5 hours. The village is populated and has unique architectured houses that represent village houses in Nepal.

Day 07: Trek to Melamchi Puul Bazaar: Drive to Kathmandu: 4/5 hrs trek/ 2 hrs drive

From Sermthang we trek to the Melamchi Pul Bazaar at 800 meters above the sea level where we connect to the road. From there, we take a ride back to Kathmandu which is around 3 hours of drive. At Kathmandu, we check in the hotel and spend time at some amazing pubs and clubs at Kathmandu.

Day 08: Drive to International Airport and Final Departure

Checkout from the hotel. And we end our trip with you dropping at the airport and seeing you goodbye and wishing for a safe flight back home.
