Along the route, panoramic vistas of legendary peaks such as Annapurna South and the famous Machhapuchhre, frequently called Fishtail because of its distinctive shape, await you.

Mardi Trek From Kathmandu /8 Days/ Overview

Where many trekking experiences often involve long travel days filled with scores of fellow trekkers and busy, crowded trails, the Mardi Himal trek offers a more intimate and personal experience. Throughout this trek, you often find yourself walking the trail in quiet solitude amidst the captivating beauty of rhododendron forests, with only the soft crunch of your boots on the ground and the sweet singing of birds in the trees to keep you company. As you make your way along the trail, it gradually winds its way upwards towards High Camp and finally brings you to the stunning Mardi Himal Viewpoint — a place where the entire Annapurna range stretches out before you like a beautiful panoramic painting, embodying the very essence of nature’s majesty.

As this trek is still relatively new in the overall picture, having just opened its trails to trekkers sometime in 2012, it has an aura of being unspoiled and still has a wild, untamed personality. As you go along the journey, you will be winding your way through quaint little villages and walking along tranquil ridges, and upon arrival at the viewing point, the sunrise views are just so spectacular that they make the whole experience feel so worth it.

The standard Mardi Himal Trek typically takes 5 to 8 days, depending on your starting point and pace. Our 8 day package starts and ends in Kathmandu, including two way domestic flights and 6 days of actual trekking. It’s a perfect short Himalayan adventure for travelers with limited time.

The Mardi Himal Trek is considered moderately difficult. It doesn’t require technical climbing skills, but you should be reasonably fit and able to walk 5–7 hours a day on hilly terrain. The highest point is 4,500 meters at the Mardi Himal Viewpoint, so proper acclimatization and hydration are important. It’s suitable for beginners who have done some physical preparation.

The best time to do the Mardi Himal Trek is during:
Spring (March to May): Rhododendrons bloom, clear skies, and pleasant temperatures.
Autumn (September to November): The skies are at their clearest, and mountain views are stunning.

Avoid the monsoon season (June to August) due to slippery trails and leeches, and winter (December to February) if you’re not used to cold and snow.

Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek is longer (7–12 days), more popular, and reaches the heart of the Annapurna Sanctuary.

Mardi Himal Trek is shorter (5–7 days), quieter, and follows a ridge trail with stunning panoramic views.

If you're short on time and prefer a less crowded, peaceful journey, Mardi Himal Trek is better for you. If you want to stand at the base of towering Himalayan giants, ABC might be your choice.

The Mardi Himal Trek is safe when done with a licensed guide and proper preparation. The trail is well-marked in most parts, but quiet and remote. The main risks include altitude sickness at higher elevations (above 3,000m), slips during rainy seasons, and cold temperatures at night.

We recommend going with a professional guide, staying hydrated, and walking at a comfortable pace. Adventure Himalaya Nepal ensures all safety precautions are in place for your comfort.
