Tilicho Lake Trek is one of Nepal’s most dramatic and rewarding high-altitude trekking experiences, taking you deep into the heart of the Annapurna region to reach Tilicho Lake (4,919m) widely regarded as one of the highest lakes in the world. This trek is a perfect blend of raw Himalayan wilderness, ancient villages, glacial landscapes, and towering snow-capped peaks. Less commercial than some classic routes yet incredibly scenic, Tilicho Lake Trek is ideal for trekkers seeking adventure, solitude, and breathtaking alpine beauty.

Starting from the lush lowlands of Besisahar and gradually ascending through the Marsyangdi Valley, the trail passes through traditional Gurung and Manangi villages, terraced farmlands, pine forests, and rugged high-altitude terrain. As the landscape changes, so does the culture offering trekkers a deep insight into Himalayan life shaped by altitude, climate, and centuries-old traditions.

The true highlight of the journey is the challenging yet immensely rewarding hike to Tilicho Lake itself. Surrounded by snow covered peaks such as Tilicho Peak, Gangapurna, Annapurna II, and Khangsar Kang, the turquoise waters of the lake create a surreal, almost otherworldly setting. Standing beside this sacred lake, with prayer flags fluttering in the cold mountain wind, is an experience that stays with trekkers long after the journey ends.

Adventure Himalaya Nepal carefully designs the Tilicho Lake Trek to ensure proper acclimatization, safety, and comfort while maintaining an authentic trekking experience. Welcome to Nepal! One of our representative along with Driver will pick you up from Tribhuvan International Airport and will transfer you to your Hotel. Rest and Relax at the hotel, Representative or Guide will instruct about trek journey.

Your journey begins with an early morning departure from Kathmandu, heading west along the Prithvi Highway. The drive offers scenic views of rivers, terraced fields, and rural settlements. After reaching Besisahar, the gateway to the Annapurna region, you continue on a rugged mountain road to Chame. As you gain altitude, the air becomes cooler and the mountains begin to dominate the skyline.

Today’s trek follows the Marsyangdi River through pine and fir forests. The trail passes dramatic rock formations and offers your first close views of Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal. You walk through small villages and suspension bridges before reaching Pisang, a traditional village with stone houses and prayer flags.

The trail ascends gradually, opening into a wider valley with striking mountain views. You pass through Braga village, home to an ancient monastery that is well worth a visit. The scenery becomes increasingly arid as you approach Manang, reflecting the region’s rain-shadow climate. Manang is a bustling trekking hub with bakeries, lodges, and incredible mountain panoramas.

Proper acclimatization is essential for a safe and enjoyable trek. Today, you take short hikes around Manang to help your body adjust to the altitude. Popular options include hiking to Gangapurna Lake or visiting the Himalayan Rescue Association viewpoint. You’ll also receive valuable information about altitude sickness.

Leaving the main Annapurna Circuit trail, you head towards Khangsar village. The route becomes quieter and more remote, offering a sense of true wilderness. The trail traverses alpine terrain with stunning views of Gangapurna and Annapurna III. Khangsar is a small, traditional village that marks the beginning of the Tilicho Lake route

This is one of the most challenging and scenic days of the trek. The trail is narrow in sections and crosses landslide-prone areas, but the views are extraordinary. As you approach Tilicho Base Camp, the massive north face of Tilicho Peak dominates the landscape.

An early start is essential today. You ascend gradually towards Tilicho Lake, with the trail opening into a vast, glacial basin. Reaching the lake is a powerful and emotional moment—the deep blue waters set against snowy peaks create a magical scene. After spending time at the lake, you descend carefully back to Khangsar for overnight stay.

Retracing your steps, you descend back through Khangsar to Manang. Descending feels easier, and you can fully enjoy the surrounding scenery that may have been missed on the ascent.

Continuing downhill, you pass familiar villages and forests as you return to Chame. The warmer air and greener surroundings signal your gradual return to lower altitudes.

After breakfast, you begin the long but scenic drive back to Kathmandu. Upon arrival, you are transferred to your hotel, marking the end of the Tilicho Lake Trek with Adventure Himalaya Nepal.

This is your final day in Nepal. After Breakfast, We will drop you off to Tribhuvan International Airport as per your flight schedule. Hope you had wonderful Tilicho Trek. Can't Wait to see you again here in Nepal.
